Just picked up a new Ruger New Vaquero in 45LC and am looking for folks who shoot paper or steel and have a particular 200gr boolit they would suggest. Not concerned with RNFP or SWC either is fine. Would appreciate maker and mold number if you have a 'pet' you can suggest.
Thanks in advance!

I shoot the 200 gr. RNFP bullet from Magma in all my .45 Colts, both rifle and pistol, though mostly through the rifles. I really like the bullet, since it also makes a great .45 acp bullet for my 1911's and Witnesses.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Fred. I'll be casting my own so looking for a mold suggestion. I think the 200gr is the way I'll be going but SWC or RNFP is the quandary.

I have a 4 cavity MP H&G 68 copy that works well out of my Ruger New Vaquero. It also works well out of my 45 autos. I also have a 452-389 that sees use.

rintinglen - Thanks for the response!
Could you post the mold number for the MiHec mold?

Lee makes a RNFP that I have cast up by the coffee can full with their 6 cavity moulds. It seems to shoot well enough for plinking over a mild load of Titegroup.

I have three Lee 6 cavity moulds that I use for my 45 Colts (2 SAA revolvers, Uberti M73 carbine and Contender). My preferred bullet is the 452-200-RF simply because it is the "cowboy" bullet and the one I developed my load with. The other 2 are 45 ACP bullets (452-190-SWC & 452-200-SWC) that I will use if I don't have any of the RFs around. They shoot just as well but look "funny" in the 45 Colt, especially in the belt cartridge loops. I load all 3 over the same load (7.2 gr Bullseye) which runs 1150 fps out of the Carbine and 920 - 950 fps out of the revolvers. I developed that load basically to duplicate the performance of original 44-40 loads in the M73. It has been an excellent load.

It would appear you've already grown accustomed to your new surroundings in AZ there, Larry! Neat pic......
