Yesterday, I discovered I had an unopened pound of SR 4759. I looked it up and found it could be used for reduced loads in the 223. I ran a test to see just how low I could load it. I located the charge with a 1/2" X 1" strip of 3/8" loft quilting dacron and lit it with small magnum rifle primers.
Initial results indicate 6 grs. is about as low as I could go and still expect any kind of accuracy. At 5 grs., the velocity dropped off quickly. I'll run two tests with this powder under the Lyman 225415 and the NOE 225 60 RN.
