Anyone else using this combination? In a Rossi 92 rifle it produces acceptable 50 yard accuracy at 12.0/Herco. That boolit sure produces a solid "whack" on the backboard.

Yeah, Corky, in the 44 with a 250 at 11.0 grains Herco the load is right on. Powder burn is excellent (Ruger carbine). Same velocity as with 10.5 of 4756, which leaves no powder trace. The load(s) are circa 1300 fps by my rifle trajectory observations (eyeball!). Adding 2 grains of either would be what the doctor ordered for the same results in the 45 Colt. (Beginners: These loads are over powered for cowboy-weight pistols.) ... felix

Yes to the first two with a 454424. Also try 9 gr for a lighter mid range load.

I use Herco powder in my Uberti "Evil Roy" SAA as well. My max load is 9 grains with any 250-260 grain boolit. The Herco takes
up plenty of volume in the case, measures better than Unique and burns very clean in the 5.5" bbl. Good stuff.

Well, since we started foolin' around with this a few days ago I've been up to 13.0/Herco. Good to go. And, yes, Herco does a good job filling up the case. Even at night there is very little muzzle flash. This is a recent manufacture Rossi 92 with the long octagon rifle barrel.

I've also tried the 45-310 Keith from a group buy mould from several years ago (really nice boolit!). At first I was concerned the OAL would be too long too feed, but it works slick as can be set to the crimp groove. Loaded 17.0/2400 in that and more testing to follow.

Full load for gang busters at 150 yards plus: 28 grains H116/WC680 with BIG boolit....(using full case, in other words). Is that Rossi chambered right? My 94 Legacy's is too big for these full time 30K loads; cases will not last long if resizing them back for tighter chambers. So....delegate specific cases to that rifle and "neck" size only. 454 cases are even SMALLER (and thicker) and will show stress marks at the case head with 30K loads in chambers too large for them. These 454 cases are designed for correct 452 chambers. ... felix
