stevens single shot pistol # 35

I recently acquired a Stevens # 35 pistol and am curious if the pistol is supposed to have a firing pin return spring, on mine you have to tip the pistol backwards to retract the firing pin so you can fully open it.

Mine was a wreck that I rebuilt. It didn't have a firing pin return spring, and the firing pin was pretty battered on the end. When I made a new firing pin for it, I made a return spring from a few turns of ballpoint pen spring.
