Does anyone know of a high temp insulation that could be used around the nozzle on an RCBS Pro-Melt?

i used the ceramic rolled insulation on my boiler. held a torch to it and nothing but a little discoloration, should be able to get at any fireplace type store, good luck.

We used to use products like Fiberfrax, Kaowool, and Refrasil to insulate ceramic kilns. They are all alumina silica fiber products and we used them for kilns that operated in the 2000*-2300*F range. That was 20+ years ago so there may be better products on the market now.

How about stove cement? Most real hardware stores carry it in little tubs. Looks like gritty play doh. I've used it for cracks and holes in woodstoves and it sets up rock hard.
