I have a newer Hornady L-N-L press. I've been looking at used 30-40 krag dies. Are Herters or
Eagle dies' threads compatible? Thanks for any help.

Any dies with 7/8 X 14 threads will fit in the bushings of the L-N-L press, or any other modern press, with the exception of the Lyman 310 series.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. These are some very old dies I'm looking at.

That's why I carry a die lock ring in my pocket on the rare occasions that I go to gunshows. Some of the older dies have different thread pitches, but if a lock ring screws on and off easily then you're OK.

I have several Herter's dies from the early to mid 1970's and two sets of Eagles, late 1960's ... they all have the standard 7/8 X 14 Threads. As does the Eagle Cobra press that came with them.
I'm not going to say all Herter's and Eagles are that size but most will be. If you can't inspect them in person (to try the lock ring) look closely at the photo's and you should be able to tell. The non-standard usually have skinnier die bodies than standard.

I can't see these in person, unfortunately. If he wants a crazy amount for them, I found a new set of rcbs locally. When ever possible, I like putting old dies back to use.

Eagle dies are excellent and equal to any of todays brands.
Herter's work but not so hot.
