Was out at the range today shooting some 180gr cast loads with titegroup, and find it quite dirty. Using 4.5grs. Any cleaner burning alternatives?

I've only tried WSF so far, but its pretty clean.

WSF is my first choice and Win 231/HP-38 is my second. I wouldn never use something as fast burning as Titegroup (or Bullseye or others) as that's a lot of stress on the brass in the chamber.

I'll add AA#5 to the list of clean burning powders.

Red Dot for light to mid-range loads.

Blue Dot is my go to powder for 40SW. I was using Power Pistol but it's become very difficult to find.

WST is my choice seems to be clean, I rag off the pistol after a 200~300 round range season and do it again the next weekend. After just over 1k rounds I took the gun apart and hoppies everything down and put a few drops of grease on the frame rail(XD 40) and start over. I could have went longer but it started to bother me lol. I've used Herco but after 500 or 600 rounds the gun started cycling slower from gunk build up and has to be cleaned YMMV.

Part of the filth might be from your boolits. I've never found titegroup to be very dirty. It's not a favorite powder for differen reasons.

Try IMR 4756 (used to be in a lime can) Very good choice for the forty.
