I was recently given a model 60-3 sn: BFC63xx. It has a history that I don't like and has some minor pitting on the frame and cylinder. I am trying to get an approximate value on it to see if sending it to S&W for a refinish is worthwhile. I figured that I would start with the date of manufacture.

I know that there are threads on this topic, but the search function wasn't much help and I cant find anything. Any help is appreciated!

According to the Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson, the 60-3 was introduced in 1988 and serial number prefix BFN started in March 1990. Best I can do...

Can you post a site or web address, so I don't have to bother anyone in the future? This would be handy info to have.

And thanks a lot for your reply!

I'm not aware of any web site that has that information. The Standard Catalog of Smith and Wesson is a hard cover book by Jim Supica and Richard Nahas. It is widely recognized as *the* collector's reference.
