Anyone have one? Was thinking about going a different route than everyone else on a AR build?

I thought of it a few times, seems to me the best way is to get one with a Glock compatable lower. Also, I think 9mm or 40 s&W would be better to hold more rounds.

The 9mm would be the easiest way, I know that. But I am not set up to do 9mm. I have sooooo many 45acp components available to me, that it makes sense to go that route.

I seen the Glock mag lowers. And it looks the way to go right now. The upper is where I am having a hard time finding info on. I have seen the DI ones and the blowback ones. But there is just not that much info out there on this.

Somebody on the forum was producing what you want. It's been some time since I saw the posts. Maybe some searching?

On another note, have you researched the Mech Tech carbine uppers for the 1911 and Glocks? Carbine length scope capable that are compact and shoot quite well for what they are.

AR bolts cannot easily accommodate a full 0.473" case head, hence the rebated rims on many of the larger caliber case heads

THIS!

The 7.62 x 39 head size is about as large as you want in an AR bolt. Those have had problems in the more powerful cartridges (the Grendel for example).

I'm thinking a 10mm AR would be an interesting thing.

Nope! there are DI 45acp carbines being built. The barrel extension and bolt are being made to fit a normal carrier. It looks like I need to search some more.

I had an oly back in the 90's it was ok and ran fine , those modified Uzi mags IIRC were really hard to come by though.

There is a grip frame replacement for the 45 ACP Uzi and UMP that uses the grease gun mags also.

DI uppers are quieter, have less recoil, and run cleaner.

If you want a 30 round magazine in 45 acp you'll be hard pressed to find something more economic, available, and reliable as a grease gun mag.

I run a DI 45 acp upper on a lower that uses grease gun magazines.

The Cadillac of lowers is Justin's. He can be contacted at justin@cncguns.com

His website shows both 80% and 100% lower receivers. I used a 100%.

Here is the order form: http://www.cncguns.com/downloads/PO/ar45%20purchase%20order.pdf

The guy you want for a DI upper is named Rudy. He posts on forums under the name Mad Machinist. PM me for his phone number if you are interested.

I thought I had posted to this thread/

Below is my dedicated "Justin" lower that uses unaltered grease gun mags. At the time I built it I could not get an complete upper so I got the barrel and bolt and put my own upper togeather.

Intel, where did you get the parts for the upper? Is it a DI or blow back? That looks like what I want to do.

The DI one I had from Bazooka Brothers was awesome. I did remove two coils from the sten mags to get it to feed reliably thio. The springs on those are fearsome

I'm running a DI45 upper from RMW extreme. It's a quality unit. I am waiting on mad machinist to start production of his magwell blocks. They will allow us AR45 guys to run H&K USC magazines in our stock AR lowers. Right now, mine is a 2 shooter with Milspec 5.56 mags. Any more than 1 or 2 rounds in the mag won't feed reliably.

TB,

My upper is basically a OLY Arms blowback upper. At the time OLY had barrels and bolts but no complete uppers to purchase. I had researched a guy up in WA (probably worked for OLY?) who woudl take aregular AR15 upper and drill it for the spring ejector system. Since I had a spare A4 upper I sent it off to get drilled and the parts installed and then ordered the barrel and bolt. Once I had all of them in hand assembling the upper was just like any other AR upper so I picked a handguard and put it togeather. Went togeather easy and has been a shooter ever since.
