is this new Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter. Just picked it up Friday and got a scope mounted on it but haven't had time to shoot it yet. I have two Lee molds, the tl430-240 and the 430-240swcgc. I'll be casting some bullets later this week and get some loaded up to see how she does. The bullets in the pic are Hornady 240xtps over some Lilgun and they shoot great out of my Henry BigBoy however I am kind of set on shooting cast out of this SBH. Trigger was 5# out of the box and 3#4oz with the Poor man trigger job. Very nice.

Very nice. What is the recoil like on the bisley compared to the regular SBH from the grip perspective?

If yours shoots as good as mine does you'll never shoot another 44 pistol again. In my opinion the Bisley Hunter is the BEST single action 44 mag revolver out there, bar none. Including the over priced and over hyped (please send all hate mail to someone who cares, I don't) Freedom Arms.

83122I saw and help the Bisley Hunter yesterday at my gunshop. Beautiful weapon. But didn't like it enough to trade in my SBH.

The Ruger style Bisley grip is a substantial improvement over the normal SBH grip, and light years ahead of the S&W style grip that punishes the web of your hand.

It distributes the recoil evenly across the heel of your hand and is big enough that it spreads the recoil out over a larger area which is beneficial.

IMHO it is the best grip for a high powered handgun there is, and it would seem that is the general consensus amongst makers of really high powered revolvers as well. John Linebaugh uses the Ruger SBH Bisley as a starting point for his .475 and .500 caliber guns and so does Hamilton Bowen. They are arguably the best out there so,,,,, I tend to pay attention when they speak.

I can't get accuracy from a Bisley.
Don't use Lil'Gun, way too hot burning.

Nope, no Lilgun in this one. I just cast up some 240 swc lst night and will be loading some over Red Dot for light loads and some over 4227 for heavier loads. The light loads will be the Lee TL430-240swc and the heavier will be the LEE c429-240swcgc. Can't find any H110 or 2400 or Unique around here so I will use what I have on hand. The Lilgun loads with the jacketed XTP's shoot great out of my Henry so that is what I will use in it. I also use some 180wfngc .357 loads with Lilgun in my Marlin 1894cs and they shoot great in it. It seems to work better in rifles for me.

Nice pistol. Just shot a deer two weekends back... Lee 240 (.430") over 7.3 gr of w231 out of my SRH. Never seen a deer drop so fast. Didn't even run, just a light walk 10-15 feet to its final resting place.

I load from power levels just above .44 spl. in magnum cases all the way to the top.

But one load stands out as an "everyday" field packin' load:

HS-6 from 10.0-12.0 gr. behind lead at 240-250 gr. with a magnum primer.

In your case I'd use that Lee GC bullet.

In my specific situation, I use a RCBS 250K, 11.8 gr. HS-6 and the Federal 155 primer.

Lower recoil impulse, accuracy and a standard deviation to die for! ........ and just about 1200 fps out of my 7.5" barrel (1066 fps out of 4") ....... what's not to like?

The load comes right out of the Hodgdon's #26 manual ...... so it's published to boot.

Best regards
