What is one of these worth in origional shooter condition? Tired bluing in a few places. No rust or pits. Screw heads lightly bunged. Grips look origional.

Prices are high right now, but for me, if I wanted one and didn't already have a few, $400 would seem about right. I do have access to blueing tanks, so the cosmetic flaws could be remedied. I have paid both less and more for a K-frame .22 S&w.

A 17 no dash or dash 1 in the condition you describe would go for around $400 - $450 around here. I'm assuming original grips. The buggered-up screw heads are a big negative. Although the fix is not expensive, it's usually easy to spot and makes the 17 look "doctored". Re-blueing a 4 screw 17 (unless maybe S&W did it) would de-value the gun.

Did some checking. It is a 5 screw pre 17 with 6 grooves on top of the barrel. Lighter barrel than numbered models but not round.

I have seen some pretty rough one in MT gun shows the last few years. I have never seen one below $600.

Something to think about:

With the prices of centerfire ammo @ a all time high, anything 22lr is highly sought after.
If 10 people all give the same answer ($400 to $450) then you know the lowball price because everyone would pay that for 1.
@ $400 you're getting into the taraus & ruger single action price range.

It's too bad it's a 5-screw, there's allot less 4-screws laying around (only made them for 2 years). But at the end of the day I'd like to know where there's a pile of 5-screw or 4-screw k-22's laying around for $400. I've used the k-22's as cash for years, probably have bought & sold 20+ of them in the last 10 years.

The last set of them that I owned, 4-screw on top/5-screw on the bottom.

Since that picture was taken I've sold the 5-screw ($525) as pictured with the rubber grips.

At last year's Spring Expo Center gun show in Great Falls, a seller had 4 no dashes. They were all good shooter grade with some blue wear == $450 each. They were still there on Sunday. At the Redmond, Oregon show this month, there was a like-new no dash with Target Grips that numbered to the gun (or so I was told). $500 asking price. It was there when I left.
