Is there a place where I can get a short chambered drop in ballard rifled .38-55 barrel for a 336 Marlin?

only place I know is Numrich - IF they have one. Might check over on the Marlin Owners forum. Never know what you might scare up there.

If you run into a pair, throw me a bone and let me know!

Send it to JES Reboring and have Jesse make it into a .38-55. He made mine into a .375 Winchester, and it only took him a week to get it back to me.

Here's the link: http://www.35caliber.com/index.html

Hope this helps.

Don't know why I didn't think of that, Fred. Just got one back from JES myself. Great work, great value, fast turnaround.

Tnx for the help guys.
A rebore would be the easest way to go but I would like to use a little longer barrel.
I will keep the JES link.

He does great work, but I don't think he can stretch barrels............

Greetings
Option #2 Buy another 30-30 barrel cheap(bad rifling). Remove your origonal barrel. Install bad barrel and send it to JES. On return you now have a switch barrel receiver with 2 calibers.

I ahve to agree JES has done a couple for us and they were boght real shooters. The owners wouldn't sell them for anything.

Jesse Ocumpah is a big boy, about 6'6", and he can probably stretch fences a whole bunch, but those barrels are a little tougher. It probably wouldn't come out straight, anyway.......... I am impressed with the job he did on my Marlin, by the way.

Fred I have two Marlins one is a 30-30 and the other is a early 444 both have Micro groove rifling and shoot great with a jacket bullet but suffer with cast that I want to use for the silhouette matches.
The .38-55 would make a fine caliber for this and the .444 might be candidate for a liner back into a .444 or a rebore into a .44-70 maynard.
I have been looking for someone that does the reline or rebore job good. I have never done this so I don't know a good place to have this done.
