...............That's an Engineers Carbine, I have one I bought many years ago from Dennis Kroh @ Empire Arms.

They were all matching, but evidenced a bit of use in the field.

All of the batch he had, had buttstock repairs. I guess the Engineers used them to drive in grade stakes? Unlike the M91 Cav carbines, the Engineers carbine would take a bayonet plus they had side sling swivels.

The other oddity was their crests were not buffed off. The photos were taken of my example and externally it seemed to have been carried quite a bit, and also banged around some. Internally it's quite nice. Fired with full tilt 7.65x54 Argie ammo, the little beast backs off the cartridge rather smartly.

I have one of the original Argentine military scabbards for the carbine. I suppose thier use was the same as our canvas sleeves used withthe M-1 carbine, 03 Springfield and Garand. While externally it has it's share of dings and dents, thebarrel goes .303" x .314". With any of the "Fat 30" Loverin designs done as group buys over the past 10 years or so it shoots quite well. With the 190gr NuJudge loaded to 1800+ FPS it's a rather energetic artifact. No doubt about it, it's a fairly handy little piece and is on par with the M94 Swede carbine so far as handiness goes.

I like it. My sportenized Model 1909 still has the crest. that's the way I got it at a store called 'Town & Country', almost 40 years ago. It still shoots as good as ever. Shoots better than I can hold it.
