What causes leading in the first 1/2" of the bore in a semi auto? The rest of the bore is lead free.

Lyman #4 cast boolit manual states that your problem is caused by boolit skiding before engaging rifling. Harder alloy may solve problem. Try water quenching and make sure your cast boolits are slightly oversize .001
