Hi team.

SWMBO and I went away this weekend to the hydro canals with some friends. Sheryl had not fished before. She borrowed Kiera's magical purple rod.

Here she is getting started with a Berkley 3 inch Gulp smelt:

Me having a leisurely cup of tea and leaving her to it:

And shortly there after.......

4lb salmon, all by herself with a little instruction.

I believe she might be hooked now......

Excellent, just the right size for eating.
Fishing together as important as hunting/shooting together for a happy marriage.

A HA! I knew you would sneak in the teacup somehow. Very very nice work, and a fine fish to boot. Bet that one tasted good.

hmm, something to this magic purple pole thing.
littlegirl uses a purple pole too and sometimes she catches things on "accident".
a couple of weeks back she wasn't even using bait and was catching fish. [face/palm]

Its the hat folks! :) It lends itself to tall fish tales as well! Glad to see Jeff is admitting that the girls fishing ability comes from their mom after all!

Oh bahahaha. In fairness though she is a bit of a natural. Took to casting the spinning reel very well straight away. Spinning gear and light softbaits are a bit tricky to cast.

We saw some ridiculously large fish breaking the surface. They are lazy though as they live around the salmon farms and down have to work for a feed. One guy showed me a photo of a 30lb rainbow he caught a few months back.

I introduced my wife to fishing and she was immediately outfishing me. I introduced my 10 and 11 year-old boys to shooting and,,,,,,,, yep.

You're lucky to have a wife who enjoys your interests. Kudos to your Mrs.

great first fish, that will be great to eat! And you are using your new tea cup with
the flies on it.

Good day for all - well, except for the salmon.

You must let me know how you convinced your wife to retrieve dinner while you sipped tea? With me, the Mrs. usually relaxes in a lounge chair sun tanning while I get my hands dirty.

Jokes aside, Congratulations to your better half. Job well done!

She is not smiling enough!!. Got to get her a purple fly rod for excitement. When I caught a trout that size on a 3wt, you couldn't stop my grin.

Hold on a minute; isn't the pinkey supposed to be extended when drinking tea from a cup?

I would be willing to bet that few can catch a 4 lb Salmon as their first fish!
