I generally scavenge brass at the local range. Sometimes I get AK brass that is really brass, and boxer primed. So, Is it really .50/case? Is that the going rate? I'm getting old. Used to get good, loaded rounds for that. Good thing I'm into reloading.[smilie=1:

I pick up brass at the range all the time. Rarely, and I mean rarely, do I pick up any re-loadable 7.62x39 brass cases. Almost all of the 7.62x39 cases I find are steel cases. I have started to reload the 7.62x39 Berdan steel cases but that is a whole different thread. In the past, I have paid around 25 cents each for used 7.62x39 brass cases.

Whenever I was in Walmart or Gander Mountain in New York, I just see what the current 7.62x39 cartridges were on sale and those would be the brass laying on the ground at the local range we had in the town within a few weeks.

One morning, I once walked up on 40 empty cases of Hornady 6.5 Arisaka and 40 empty 303 British cases that someone left on the range the evening prior. Good for me on that day! I need more 7.62x39 cases to reform to 6.5 Grendel so I will go check the link out. Thanks!

I have picked up much boxer 7.62x39 at the range in years. I have a few hundred loaded and a few hundred empty set aside for if that ammo gets too hard to find but for now it is available and still cheap plus I am working thru a case I bought years ago. My local Walmart has boxes of 20 for less than 6 bucks. I would not sell the brass I have for 25 cents each but 50 cents sounds a little steep.
