I have a Mosin Nagant that I like to shoot but I'm not in love with the sights. Is it possible to replace the sights and if so does anyon make replacements for it? I would realy like to have some of those green sights on it.

A couple of things you might like to look at...first is a guy that runs a little thing called Smith Sights...they are mostly oriented toward the Mosin...I've been in touch with him a couple of times and he's a little hard to catch...I think he makes the sights at home and runs things on a part time basis...that being said some of his stuff really looks good..here's his link

The next thing to look at is to google "mosin nagant rain rifle" http://www.castbullet.com/makeit/rr.htm ...A guy took an old junker Mosin and built it into an indistructable hunting gun that he just doesn't worry about, rain or shine..pretty innovative and humorous....but look at the rear sight he fabricated out of a sling swivel bolt...it's a $2 rear peep sight that is adjustble for elevation..he went to a great deal of trouble to put a ramp front sight on it and I'm not up for that..I will either lengthen or shorten the front sight post to match the rear "Cheap Peep"....I'm in the process of doing his trick to 2 of my Mosins...and no reason it won't work great...I think Smith Sights had made up some sets of this kind of "peep sight" but I see it is not on his web site...may be it's just too cheap for him to make any money...but might be worth asking Smith if he knows of it and if he currently offers anything like it...Simple is better and cheap is best of all...I got marginal eyes and the Mosin irons are tough....I've filed the notch in the sliding rear a bit to open it up just a little...I've used glow finger nail polish around the notch and on the front post (different colors) and it all helps....Not going to put a $75 sight on a $75 gun I'm shooting corrosive milsurp ammo through...good luck!!
