What's your favorite 35 Remington load?

Just fishing...I've been searching a lot while I collect everything I need to get started myself.
I'm probably gonna start with a 200g RCBS RNFP, Hornady gas check, RP brass, Winchester LR primer and work my way up with AA2015. Recently 2015 has become my new favorite powder. I've found VERY accurate loads in my 223, 308 and I load a buddy's 450 marlin with it. Really good stuff!

Accurates website actually lists the RCBS boolit and 2015 so I've got solid ground to start on.

One never being enough, I do plan on trying other powders I have too including 2400, Unique & Trail Boss. I'm kinda looking forward to the Trail Boss loads with a 158g Keith boolit. That should be a hoot!


So share and save me the the laborious searches...what are your favorite 35 Remington loads for hunting or plinking.

I have 2 marlin 35 rems,,,a 1952 that loves re-12 powder(which aint been made in years!!),and second best is h-335.I have a 1982 model that shoots the best with h-4895...

The best boolit,,,,easy,,,,rcbs 200!!!

Bet that 2015 will shoot nicely.

Howdy !

I'm using my M-336 XLR as a pure target rifle, and I am shooting/working with "reduced " loads.

Boolits:
Right now, I'm experimenting w/ the 195SPBT ( rebated ) swaged bullet from " Dead Center Duplex ". These I " patch " w/ DYMO label maker taper ( self-stick
nylon tape ). I'm trying these, shot from My M-336 using a .35 Remington "neckless" case ( Remington brass ).

These swaged .35cal 195s have a plastic tip, and a "rebated" boat tail. The overhang of the boolit' body is seated firmly upon the upper case shoulder
( case " mouth " ), when closing the lever engages the boolit into the rifling. This boolit-to-case mating " seals-off " the combustion gasses.

Since I'm out in uncharted territory, I'm taking my time going up on w/ the powder charge. So far, recoil is quite mild.
16.2gr IMR4759 and CCI LR Mag are ok on pressure, and the bullets do make it 100yd and onto paper. I'm about out of my first batch of the 195s ( pulled from
.45cal muzzle loader sabots ). I'll know more, after working w/ the next batch of 195s.... to be ordered, soon.

J-words:
18.6gr IMR4759 and CCI LR Mag, under surplus Rem .358" 150PSPs. This load is just stupid accurate ( 100yd ). THIS is my favorite .35Rem J-word load.
I've run out of the 150s, and they're hard to find... these days !!

I have started experimenting w/ Hornady 140FTX and IMR 4759 ( at 100yd ). At 17.1gr and above, these bullets show keyholing @ 100.
I'll need to do more testing, but already know that they don't keyhole w/ 16.9gr ( 98* F o.a.t. ). Recoil is mild.

This was shot w/ my M-336 XLR .35 Rem ( 100yd ), using the 186.gr IMR4759 Rem 150PSP load mentioned; previously.

Both shots that landed outside the group were my fault. I was watching my windflag, and did nto read it right. I held outside the group to compensate for wind that I believed the flag was showing me. Both bullets printed right where I had aimed ( outside the group ) ! AAcckkk !!!!

I'm pretty keen to redeem myself w/ this load, provided I can find some more Rem .35cal 150PSPs !

I have fun with 158's and 190's with 4-5 gr trailboss. In the 81 you pull the trigger and the barrel lazily comes back. It doesn't cycle fully but still a blast. I am sure when shooting real slow you know this but only put 1 boolit in firearm at a time, just in case one stays in barrel. Have fun and be safe!

So far, 20.5 grains of 2400 or 31.0 grains of RL-7 have worked for me under the RCBS 35-200-FN.

For my rebarreled M91 Argentine Mauser (26" Shilen barrel)

RCBS 35-200-FN over 37 gr 4895 for 2150 fps for hunting and practice.

Most used cast load; Lee 356-120-TC over 5 gr Bullseye for 1170 fps.

Also Lyman 358477 over 3.5 gr Bullseye for 920 fps.

So far the best load in my 336 .35 Remmy is IMR 3031, 37.5gr with the RCBS 200, it runs right at 2300fps. ***This is a pretty HOT load so work up to it properly.***
Soon I plan to play with some Trail Boss and a 358311 PB RN. I'm gonna use it to fire form some more cases.

One I'm looking forward to is my RCBS plain base Keith 158g boolit for some 25 & 50 yard clay pigeon on the berm fun.

Reckon where the best place to start with that would be? Unique or 2400? I have Trail Boss too but I've never used 2400 and am kinda eager to try it out? Any thoughts on a starting charge? Velocity is NOT the name of the game on this load. I'm thinking just over supersonic, wherever accuracy is found should be the most entertaining.

Howdy !

My testing w/ " Trailboss " showed the accuracy getting better & better ( @ 100yd ), the further up on charge I went.

Thing is... I ran out of space for any more of the powder @ 14.5gr . This was when shooting the Rem 150 PSP J-words. These filled up about 1/2 the neck.

I think w/ a 158SWC and... considering the weight & boolit length ), I'd think you could run 11.0gr of Trailboss in .35Rem; in a M-336.
That charge wt should put the powder columne up-into the shoulder area, I should think.

With the 150PSP and 14.5gr Trailboss load, there was negligible "recoil". Accuracy was quite good ( for me ) as-long-as there was no wind.
The slow moving bullet were rather susceptible to wind, over the 100yd distance. Perhaps for you, with the ranges you are describing; wind would not have so much
an impact ?

I just started casting and don't have a full fledged 35 rifle mold, but do have a very accurate Jword load. Very accurate out of my 1990s Marlin 336.

200 grain hornady FTX
41.6 leverevolution
2150-2170 fps

My only (so far) cast load which I haven't shot yet is 9-13.8 grains of trailboss under a lee 158 grain tumble lube boolit.

AA 2520 powder under the 200 grain Remington Cor-Lokt. I have the RCBS 200 FN but have not been able to develop a load accurate enough to trust hunting with yet.

RCBS 200g flat point cast from air cooled ww, hornady check, Bens Red lube, sozed .359, RP case, win primer, 30.0g AA2015 and seated to just touch the rifling. It engraves very slightly but extracts a live round easily.
Incredibly good shooter. Dead on at 25, inch or two left at 100. I couldn't believe it shot so flat! No elevation change from 25-100. Weird.


Great plinker I tried today, 158g RCBS plain base round nose, Bens Red, .359, rp case, win primer, 9.5g of Unique and seat to just touch the rifling like before. This rifle has a pretty short throat.
I only shot them at 25 but they were VERY accurate and left no trace of the clay targets I was shooting at.

This 336 in .35 Remington is about to be my favorite rifle I own.
