Hi again guys....

Looking for some recommendations for a 44 cal 300gr wfn boolet mold... I have a older taurus 44 large frame that has been my carry gun whenever i am fishing where i live in remote alaska for over 12 years. I know that its not a smith or ruger, but have been carrying it for so long, it is an old friend, and i am pretty good with it. I will be casting a pretty hard bullet for brown bear protection... That is the goal.... Would like to find at least a 2 cavity mold... Of course cost is a factor, and would love to find one even used.... But that is a post for another forum. What i need now is some recommendations from some of the experts here...

Thanks again guys...

We broke a Tauris Bull in 44 mag using 300 gr Ranch Dog boolits.

We shoot the same load though a Super Black Hawk & Winnie lever

If cost is a factor, take a look at the 310 grain offering from Lee.

That 310gr from Lee would make a great boolit for the 44, I use the 45 caliber version in my NMBH 45Colt. And you can get it in 6 cavity, like mine.

+1 for the Lee 310 gr mould. That and a box of gas checks and you are set up for a long time if you are only shooting full-power loads. It's a good looking boolit.

Yea, i have shot beartooth 300's and something like it for a long time. Time to try my own. I have Zero doubt about my taurus model 44. It is a heavy gun, and can handle the heavy stuff just fine. That raging bull must have had a cracked horn.... Lol

I went ahead and ordered a six cav lee 310 grain mold off ebay today.... Wish i could just snap my finger or wiggle my nose and it would appear, but alas, it dont work for me.

Thanks again for the advice. Ay recommendations for working up a load for this??? Maybe using 800 or ??? Aliant 2400?

Thanks guys

You might consider H-110 or WW296 with your Lee 310g, or if you can get some, WC 820. I've found that these slower powders, including AA9, work better in the .44 mag with heavy boolits than the mid-power powders like Unique and Green Dot.
