Lee 358-125-RF

This might be a nice boolit to cast for both 9 mm and 357 Mag. With a 6 cavity mold boolit stocks will pile up quickly and lead ingots will be stretched a little further due to the low 125 gr weight.

Anyone shoot this one out of 9 mm and/or 357 Mag?

Lot of folks do. I use it in my Hi-Power over 6.8-7 gr Blue Dot. For revolvers I use it mostly in light .38 loads, I have other bullets I like better in .357.

I've been using it in 38super and I've run some in light 357. Works fine for me.

I have had good luck with this one in .38 S&w, .38 spl, 9mmP, and .357 mag, all with Red Dot or Unique. I have made some test dummies up in .380 also and they seem like they would work but I have not tried that combo with live ammo yet.

I've shot a LOT of them in .38 Spl. over W231/Hp38, but I prefer a heavier bullet in .357. When I have tried to push this bullet at magnum velocities accuracy drops off. The alloy I use is COWW + 2% tin for a BNH of around 12.

But it is a great plinking bullet up to 1,000-1,100 fps in my experience.

Power Pistol at +P pressures works mighty well in .357 revolvers. Probably they would work the same in a decent .38 as well. They work well in Glock 19, not so much in a buddy's Browning HP. Too fat to chamber

I have had excellent results in the 9MM with this boolit, but it has not particularly shined in the .357. It is ok, but other boolits, notably the 358-311, are more accurate in my guns. YMMV.

I think it would be the perfect dual use boolit without the humongous crimp groove. I would like to remove the crimp groove from my mold, any idea how I might do this?

A lathe, a dial indicator, and a small hook tool would do it. Guess its just a matter of opinion, the CG isn't all that big on mine, doesn't cause any problems in 9mm. Course you could always taper crimp it in a revolver if the CG was removed. To each their own!

Before you get too concerned about the CG on that boolit, you might try loading a test dummy or two, for each of your pistols. You may well find that you have to seat the pill deep enough (for use in 9mm pistols), that you are past the CG anyway. If so, then the CG just becomes an "auxillary lube groove", so to speak. A bit more lube is never a bad thing in the 9mm.

Just a thought.

Thanks guys. I have tried this and found that this boolit works just fine in my guns seated with the crimp groove uncovered. I do use it as an extra grease groove although its certainly not necessary. I size these to .357 and they work great in 9mm and .38 Special.
