I did a site search for data on NOE's boolit listed in the title but can't find the answer to my question, so I thought I would ask the experts here to see how many have tried this boolit in an AR15.

Has anyone shot NOE's 311247 in the 300 Blackout in the AR15? It looks like a good boolit design for the subsonic application. I would like to hear from others that have shot this in the AR15 and what your comments may be good or bad. If there are better bullet designs for subsonic loads, list your preference. If this is not the correct weight or design to start with, lets here your comments on that as well. Load data would be a plus at least a starting point for powder and charge.

I've got the Lee 312155r2 and have a starting load that functions well so far in the AR but I have not put it on paper yet. My AR did not start functioning until I hit almost 1700fps with this boolit using H110. I was just trying to find a functional load to start with then work on an accurate load as time permits. I had zero leading with this boolit. It was water dropped wheel weights and sized to 309.

Shoots well in a pistol length system - subsonic 11.8gr RL7 for 1050 fps and a 12fps dev.

I'd suggest you use one of your "as cast" bullets to "slug" your chambers throat. .309 might be a bit small ?? Never hurts to check

I use them exclusively for shooting subsonic - I love them! Way cheaper then shooting Sierra's 220 MK's.

Check here for some good starting points, and also the website in general for us 300 BLK guys. :)

Frozone/Dystaxia thanks for the replies on the NOE design, I was hoping that it would be a good one to try for subsonic fun. Dystaxia I have been on the 300blacktalk forum before but never stumble onto the page you sent. I will be doing some more searching on that site.

Wayne I plan on just giving the 309's a try to see if by luck they will work. I use other boolits sized to 309 in my 30-06 with good success. If I can't get good results, I will slug the barrel to see where I stand. The barrel is an AR-Stoner from Midway and shoot Jacketed bullets very well.

I look forward to any other comments that others may have.

I've shot this boolit in an AAC upper with 10.4 grains of R-7 and it's extremely accurate at 50 yards. However, it won't function my AR. (yet, that is- I plan to try it with a can...)

WCP, Ok, but slug the chamber throat not the barrel
.
.
Btreanor, , Like Mrs. Franklin said to Ben, when he was attempting to fly a kite," you need more tail"
or in your case "more gas" start at 11.0 RL-7 and step ladder your loads up in .3 gn. steps. It only takes one to test to se if the load will lock the action open.

Thanks, Wayne- good advice. I'll give that a try.

To find my charge that cycled and fed I used the step method that Wayne mentioned. I need to go a little heavier to get the action to lock back. I have never tried just slugging just the throat, will give that a try. I have fired probably 40 rounds with no sign of leading with the Lee 155. This setup is going to be a lot of fun to shoot once I have a couple of good loads.
