I have a 15 year old Dillon separator that will not pass 22lr. Not sure about the new ones, but they look the same as my old one.

I use the cheapo Frankford Arsenal media separator. It's always worked great, and I don't think .22's would fit through the slots. But I've never tried either.

Being an engineer, I have a full set of the brass "sifting" screens you see at geo labs and other places dealing with granular material. They range from very tiny fine mesh to mesh that is 1/2" square.

I can usually find one in the big stack that works for what I am sifting!

Somewhere, sometime, I managed to acquire a #10 grit sifting pan. It's perfect for lizard litter brand media.

Some screen repair places stock a #10 mesh screening.

Its make do but works. WHen I was moly coating bulets I used a minnow trap to seperate the shot from 22 cal bullets with good success.

No go with the RCBS with.

The best option I've seen so far came from this forum. :cbpour: It involved modifying the basic PVC buck/container with a soldering iron to make the correct size holes quickly. I haven't tried it yet myself but fully intend to when required. Just need roughly the right type of tip shape. Try a forum search for a similar thread subject over the last 6 months. I think the gentleman used a hot knife for cutting and sealing poly braided rope.

I went down to outdoor world and looked at several seperators and everyone would let de rimmed 22lr through so I took a chance and bought a Dillon 500...the small one...and It will be fine ....no brass cases were allowed through the slots....so thanks all..the quest is over

I picked up a (new) kitty litter scoop at a local grocery store ($0.83) and gave it a try. Perfect size. I pour the media into a dishwashing tub, then just sift out the shinny new bullets. And no, I did not want to try using an old one......

I use a Large Dillon Separator (CM-2000) that I have had for about 20 years. It works fine, except that some cases stick in the slots and have to be picked out after spinning, but the head does not fall through before derimming, after derimming the jacket is still wide enough not to fall through either.

Another option would be the screens of different sizes used for hand panning gravel and sand in hobby Gold Mining.

I also use a kitchen colander from WalMart.
