I have a number of very old 303's now and most were manufactured outside wartime expediency. I'm always noting many shooters who have a go at casting only to give up for many reasons. I made some adjustments to the sights on a couple of oldies and tried them out today by firing a couple of 10 shot groups off a bench.

I'd say that the Queen would be quite happy with those groups.

As that 1900 Lee Enfield predates the SMLE, is it the long rifle with the Metford rifling or a carbine?

It's a long barrel with early Enfield rifling!

Nice! I'll bet that it is quite fun to load for and to shoot.

Is that a Parker Hale or AJ Parker aperture sight on it?

B/A Wallace & Jeff,

I regularly shoot my Martini Enfield and my Lee Metford MkII with cast boolits. Great fun to have the old girls out in the field and be able to speak up. Their sights are a bit hard to see but pumpkin-size targets are on grave danger out to 150 yards. The twenty-something guys with their EBRs look at me like some quaint anachronism and shake their heads. I watch them crawling around in the weeds looking for their brass and sympathetically repeat the gesture.

I have a no1 1917 bsa with the same parker-hale sight on it. I lent it to a few different people for deer season. it has put more then one down with the lyman 311299 bullet 200 gr. bullet. my mold drops them a little over size.

I just found mine and while it's not a hundred years old it is waiting on a cheap Lee mold to come in for it.
