The LGS got one, a 22" .22 lr. I asked if they would throw in a pair of Weaver #12's @ that price. They checked, no #12's on hand. They checked their wholesaler; #12's on backorder! I got a small discount anyway.
I got home and checked Midway, #12's on backorder!
Then I remembered I had a set of used #16's w/ screws. They were just a tad proud of seating on the Ruger AAR receiver, but the holes lined up perfect. :) I used the lapping process outlined here to make them a perfect fit! :t http://www.jmtpublishing.com/mark_bio.asp
I had a set of Burris Signature Zee rings ready to go. They are mounted.
The trigger (Lawyer) spring is totally superfluous. It was removed (a 2-minute job). The accu-blade spring re-sets the trigger just fine. The trigger is now a very crisp 1-5/8#. :)
I set the action screws (Allen-head type) to 12"#
The chamber is sporting type. I expected this.
I slugged the barrel. Once pushed into the leade , a slug seems to glide all the way through. There is no choke toward the muzzle.
The rifles' fit & finish is excellent! Crown looks perfect. The bolt glides very smoothly. I put a primed case w/o bullet or powder in the chamber and popped the rim. The pin indent is positive.
I have not decided what scope to use yet. A 4-12 Luey? An original Gloss Burris HBR 6X? Or........decisions! Wait! I have a Weaver CKT-15 15X that's not busy @ the moment :D
