Had a shoot at my place today, had some fun rattling the windows with 4 1-pound tannerite. Also did some penetration tests with water filled milk jugs, using Lyman devastator hp mold. The 44 mag made it through 4 jugs and stopped in the 5th. The 260 grain 44 weighed 161.5 grains when recovered. Shot from a 14-inch contender, very accurate.

its a good bullet. I actually shot a 900 lb buffalo with one out of a 44 mag at 1200 fps and between my buddy and i weve killed probably a dozen or more buffalo and have witnessed that many more again and both commented that it was the quickest handgun kill on a buffalo wed seen and one of the quickest kills period on a buffalo wed seen. Not bad considering most of the buffalo weve taken with handguns has been with the 475 and 500 linebaughs. I didnt go out that day intending to shoot a buffalo or i probably would have had more gun or at least wouldnt have had hps loaded in it but it sure did the job. Part of the bullet even exited the far side of the chest.
