I had a little wind fall a few yr ago. This homely but well polished Carcano was gifted to me.
The very short version goes a guy was going to build me a new stock and lost the original bubba stock and the gain twist bbl was cut back somewhere in the range of the 1-12 twist rather that 1-8/9 range. Goodsteel bbl'd it and did some stock tweeking and its a great shooter in 7mmRWH (7x6.8 Rem straight .007 neck up) .

Yesterday after many months of half-hearted searching and muttering 'you want how much for that clip???' I scored 6 clips and 28 rd of 7.35 for $50 . At 1st $8.35 for the clips was nuts, but the last 1s I saw were more than that, then the shipping........

This morning I though 'hey I wonder if I can make something else out of the brass? Well of course I can. Hey if this is unfired (the headstamps match the clipstamps) theres 32 Rem or 6.8 or trim to 35 Rem if they are fired 7.62-39 maybe w/a lot of trimming.

Anyway if I can get 32 Rem out of it it'll make it a pretty sweet deal as that was over $1/ea last time it was ''readily'' available.

The .25/.30/.32 Rem are smaller and the .35 Rem is slightly bigger. .421", .446"(Carcano), and .458" respectively. I shoot all of these Remington cartridges and the Carcano cartridges and have wondered the same thing in the past.

Yep , just 1 of the lil'side tracks of the rebuilt Carcano to the 7x6.8 Rem.
The Carcanos are listed at .450..... no biggie. I have a 32 Rem also, and have converted 32 to x39 after they were other wise used up. I believe I have a push through sizer to take the base and rim down the .04. I expect I'll find a home for the brass and bullets . It would seem a shame to alter hard to find fairly pricey brass .

Theres still a few deals lurking in garages, something about a blind pig an truffles comes to mind.

I expect finding a home for the brass won't be to difficult.
I did post a couple of times looking for clips, but no hits. I had a couple so this was just gravy,it just seemed like a cool score.
