I picked up two packs of Hornady 45cal to 9mm sabots for next to nothing. I was wondering is anybody has tried these in 45acp or 45 colt. Any thoughts on this would be great.

LOL Yep

Well almost , I use the 45 Sabots that use 40 cal Boolits

OK
In the 45 Colt I just crimp the case into the sabot
Same with the 45 ACP , expect with a taper crimp

BUT
Sabots slide easy
So the loads produce less pressure
How much less .....No clue

But in the 45 colt , slow powders = lots of unburnt powder and poor proformance
In the 45 ACP I found I needed to use a fast powder
As I had 231 , I used it

With Sabots and 40 cal 180 gr Boolit
I worked up a load that cycles my 1911
But must still be reasonaly low pressure
As the cases end up 2' away when I shoot

IMO Your sabots will probely need a decent 357 boolit ..... like 158 gr to work decent

I have also tryed to work up some loads in the 45/70 also
But never got decent groups

I have a SAVAGE INLINE 50 CAL. A sabot and a 45 HP will hit in a 1" circle when I do my part. And that was at 100 yards.

"WARNING Savage does not recommend this practice"

Experiment at your own risk.

Sounds good, I picked up 250 for 3 bucks so I figure it might be fun to play with.

Well I found a use for the sabots, not sure how they will do yet but they look cool.

I took some lyman 35893 and sized to 355 and they look great ill post a pic as soon as i get them loaded up. I dont know what to expect from them, but its all for fun anyways.
