Started shooting .44 mag again, so I pulled the old Lachmiller 429-250-GC out of the back of the cabinet. I bought this mold in the early 70's for sillouette matches in production class standing. It's a three cavity and casts like a house afire. The bullets I casted this time are running 260 with a Hornady gas check. The sprue plate is like a bank vault, it takes a good wack to shear all 3 sprues, as it's .180 thick. Any body have any more current loads for this bullet? Mine are all circa 1976-1980, and several new powders have appeared since then. The loads I'm using are all 4227, blue dot, 2400, and Unique.
My new SBH likes these loads but I'm wondering about lil gun, could be a winner in 44. This this mold seems to like a fat casting cadence, but lower metal temp, or it frosts em. Any ideas about this mold would be appreciated.:cbpour:

I think I'd stay away from Lil Gun. I observed significant forcing cone erosion in my buddy's stainless Super Redhawk.

Powders that work well for me: Hodgdon H110/W296, Alliant 300-MP, Accurate #9

Think I'll use the lil gun in the 357, I've still got plenty of 296.
