I have some Scot 4351, 4065 and Solo 1500 powders. Are these single based or double based??
I'm trying to work up loads for auto loading rifles and the "experts" say to use a single based powder. I can't find IMR 8208 or Benchmark, which is what most recommend.

I don't know what to use the 1500 in as I don't load shotgun anymore and don't have any pistol data for it. Looks like it should work in 357 mag and 10mm.

4351 and 4065 were scot's version of 4350 and 4064 respectively and both are pretty close to the IMR formulations and both single base.

Solo 1500 is double based and can be used with herco starting charges. It is closer to Blue dot in most applications but herco starting charges put you well in safe territory when testing new loads.

That being said both 4351 and 4065 are slower than the 8028 and benchmark that were recommended. what cartridge are you trying to load for? that would probably help narrow your search.

I have a Scot Powder Company reloading pamphlet, 3rd Edition. If you let me know the calibers you are looking to reload for, I'll scan the applicable pages for you. It covers shotshell, handgun, and rifle. It has Rifle loads for Scot 4351 and 4065. For Solo 1500 it has data for shotshell and some handgun.

On the back of the pamphlet it summarizes the uses for each powder. For what you have:
Solo 1500: A slow ultra-clean burning single base disc powder ideal for .357 Magnum, .41 Magnum, .44 Magnum and 10 mm silhouette loads with heaveribullets. Similar to IMR SR-4756 or 800-X. Also excellent for 10, 12, 16, and 20 gauge hunting loads with lead. Some applications for 12 Gauge steel shot.
Brigadier 4065: A medium-slow but coolder burning single base tubular rifle powder approximately 1-2 grains faster thanIMR 4064. Similar in some respects to IMR 4320, IMR 4895 and H4895. Ideal for a broad application of calibers and bullet weights.
Brigadier 4351: A slow but cooler burning single base tubular rifle powder approximately 1-2 grains faster than IMR 4350 and H4350. Ideal for medium to heavy bullet loads in .270, .30-06 and larger calibers. Very uniform flow through all powder measures.

You're probably right. Both the Scott and Accurate manuals list Solo 1000.

Sorry to say they've been out of business for some time. I have a pound of the B4065 and theB4351. My .280 Rem dearly loves the 4351 and 130 gr Speer bullets. Wish I could get some more. Mike

What are the chances that Scot 4065 might be AA4064 and that 4351 may be AA4350?

Rattlesnake, could you Email the 4351 & 4065 data to me to make a comparison to the Accurate data?

I believe that some Scott rifle powders were made in Scotland.

The Nobel Scotland powders are single based .
These powders are still made in France Vectan / Nobel Sport powder.

Look on QuickLoad.
