I have recently acquired this rifle. It has a scope that I am unable to remove to see any numbers the stock has also been changed out with a modified Mauser stock. What information I am able to see is it has an emblem on the bolt that looks like a M circled in a C, the serial number is OR9252, the bolt serial number is 10812, it has a 22 inch barrel, the bolt is round and solid and has no front sight slot. It also does not have the leaf crest emblem.

The following was taken from surplusrifleforum.com, specificly from the Czech rifle sub-forum

N, O, P, R blocks: 40,000 VZ24 short rifles produced in 1924. VZ24 bayonet (300mm blade). Q block was skipped. First VZ24 rifles.

You may possibly find more info there.

You need to show a close sharp photo of the left side of the receiver to include all the markings.

If I were to use american bullets what would be the closest, 30.06 is what I think from what I have read but not 100% sure.

There is a real good chance it is 8x57. If you do not know for sure please find some help (physical inspection of weapon) to confirm. Being honest- the bolt bend job a little rough but appears strong. I think I see a ground crest on front bridge. The VZ's were ground and shipped to Romania if memory correct. Bore condition is everything to these on value. Gtek
