Today I went out to kill some fruit and vegetables with the Beowulf. This Mihec boolit weighs 370 gr with lube and gas check. Loaded with 30.3 gr of Lil Gun

Those are what I call "Green" targets! All natural and organic. I use a lot of old tomatoes out of the garden and also apples form the orchard. No clean up required. I don't have a Beowulf though.

Mike, what was your OAL?

I didn't get that Mihec mold, and I am tired of the lack of communication on the MP Molds group buys. I have a new style Lee 440 coming that I am going to hollow point, and I was thinking of having Accurate Molds make me a copy of the .50/370 without the crimp grove.

OAL is 2.091. The Lee 440 might be a great boolit with hp, has a huge metplate (plenty of room for a good size hp). I have one of those molds, casted a few, but have not loaded any. I would be curious to how much weight it will take off the 440. I also have a 50-370B from Accurate Molds. It is pretty close to the Mihec mold, but was not quite as accurate. I think it was because of too short OAL (too much boolit jump) If you had Tom lower the lube grove, you could get longer OAL and it would probably be an excellent shooter in the Beowulf. I will report on the 440 HP when I get it here and get the mold altered.

You know you can leave the lube outside the neck on the 370, right? Not a best case, since the lube might get foreign particles in it, which would then get drug down your barrel.

Looking at the Accurate Molds catalog again, the 50-400E looks like it would be great with the crimp groove removed.

Looks like there are a lot of Beouwulf shooters here at Cast Boolits!

If you do a search here for Beowulf, it turns up quite a few members.

how did it shoot. Ive got the same mold for my beo and it did ok but not spectacular. My gun will shoot either the solid or hp renieer into an inch at a 100 yards but the best i can get out of that bullet is about 3 inch. Plenty good enough for what id use it for but i kind of shelved the mold because the renieers shoot so much better and both do real well on game.

I'm using 2.100" and getting good results.

I've been looking at the accurate 50-400E with no crimp grove. The MPs cast at 400gr without the HPs.
I have a bunch of guys up here that want that bullet for their wulfs, I get tired of a 2 hole mold to do 5K of em.

Isn't using Lil Gun in that cartridge a contradiction in terms? :-P

it really is a contradiction. But that powder works best with the lighter what bullets.

Lloyd, I had better results with the Mihec 370hp than the Ranier. I need to do some more testing, I recently got a Rock River 2 stage trigger and have some rounds loaded with matched boolit weights and hand weighed powder charges. So far, 30.3 gr of Lil Gun @ 1700 fps has been my best. With a little more work, I think this boolit can be placed precisely into a pigs earhole @ 100 yards=headless pig
