With my chrono on the fritz would anyone like to take a stab at my velocity?
Rem 788, 222 rem and 24" barrel
NOE copy of saeco #221 - 63 gr. checked and lubed
20 gr. imr 4895 - no dacron
Speer 223 brass formed and trimmed to 1.718"
Win srp
Tac lube
alloy is 50/50 coww/pure with about 1% tin and a touch of copper, water dropped
I shot three 5-shot groups this morning, two at 100 and one at 200. The first group @ 100 was four in 7/8" with one out about 3", the flier was the second shot. The second group was under 1 1/8", horizontal.
The 200 yard group is shown.
81383
A drop of 5 1/2" with a 100 yard zero isn't matching with what I think I should be getting from a velocity standpoint. I did have about a 3-4 mph breeze coming over my right shoulder going about 11:00.
And yes, I am pumped. I have been working on this rifle for almost 4 years. Every little thing matters.
Thanks to all
