Does anyone have any ideas as to what isotope lead is, and what the chemical makeup is? 90 lead, 8 antimony, 2 tin?

Should be some hard stuff. I hear it makes good bullets and that is what it is all about in my opinion.

that link has good information.
the rule of thumb i generally go by though is the big are 1/3/96 and the little are 2.5/2.5/95
it's not far off.

Thank You imashooter2, that site has great info about the iso lead, I was just wondering if it was worth trying to cast with it and what I may have to add to get the BHN I was looking for.

I'm thinking that I could sweeten it a bit with a bit more antimony and more tin would like to be around 15-18BHN air cooled.

You'll need more than a little sweetening to get to 15-18 air cooled. 50/50 with lino or maybe a little more I'd think.

Welcome to the board.

This is about all I am using now. I purchased quite a bit of it and have found it is great for every revolver I load for, at least for the time being.

If you have some and REALLY want to nail it down look up on the stickys and find the Alloy Calculator. It has the large cores and also some of the 2-2-96 listed as well. You can use this to figure out what you need to add and how much to hit your target hardness.

It might not be exactly down to the infinite number, but it is usually close enough for ammo.

That is what Vendor/Sponsor Carolina Cast uses. I just ordered some of his bullets to try while I'm waiting for a mold that he uses to arrive.

I add some tin to mine to bring it up to 94/3/3 thereabouts.
