I've been using SSTM for about a year now and have had no issues with pins hanging up in cases 223,243,30 and larger calibers. Yesterday I used sstm for the first time on 6.5x55 Swede, out of fifty cases 17 had a pin wedged cross ways in the neck and held numerous pins in the body. Sure wish I had known the pins were 6.5mm in length, talk about a pain.

I have never tumbled this caliber, so I have no experience on that size casing. However, in those size cases that I've tumbled, and there have been many, the only stuck pins I've experienced have been in the flash holes.

For that reason, I switched to a larger diameter pin (0.047" versus 0.041"). With the larger pin, I've never had any pins get stuck in flash holes.

I use SSTM pins, and I've never had a one get wedged sideways in a case mouth. I tumble 6.5 x 55 and 6.5 x 54 MS cases all the time...

Like Bayou - my only problems have been two getting wedged in a flash hole every now and then.

Baja_Traveler -

Do you know the diameter of the SS pins that you are using that occasionally get stuck in flash holes?
