Anyone out there who might be willing to sell me 200-300 44 caliber Plain Base" gas checks? This is for an experiment I am running for a friend. Bullets will be sized to .4305. I don't care who's tool made them. I'd like the material to be our own coilandfoil.com aluminum, :-) but am willing to accept others. Thanks. tchepone

Why don't I just sell you a Pat Marlin 44PB checkmaker for $80 shipped, and you can make your own. Checkmaker works perfectly and has made less than 100 checks, so it's practicaly brand new.

Thank you for the offer, but I will pass. These checks will be used in an experiment I am doing with a friend. Once that is completed I would have no need for the tool.
A bag of 250 checks would be more than adequate for what we are doing. Before anyone suggests it, I am aware of Sage's Outdoor. Thanks.

I would also like to try some for the 44 mag ( plain base ) bullet sized .432
For me ? there is no way I could ever afford to buy my own tool.
Unless I could pay 10 bux a month.
If you can help PM me.

I have a patmarlins 44PB checkmaker. I use Coke can metal, if that works for you, I'm sure I have some laying around.
OR
Send me some of your "coilandfoil.com aluminum" and I'll make you some from that. I am currently off work and have time, but if I get a call for work, I won't be able to get too making some right away.

gw, I can help you out too. If you are sizing with a Lee style push through sizer, the checks form better if you push them base first, which requires a flat nose on the boolit or a special punch/pusher.

I got a coil of aluminum [labeled .006" x .667" x 100'] from tchepone / coilandfoil.com Shown in the photo's below, I rig'd up a way to hold the 100 foot long coil and started punching discs with my patmarlin's 44PB checkmaker. It is lots easier than dealing with popcans.

tch,
I'm sending you some samples in today's mail...to the address that was on the package you sent me.

Sam,
I also got some made for you, and will also ship today. Some made with popcans and some made with the .006 alum shown in the photos. Be sure to open the container the checks are in right when you get the package...there is an extra gift in there for you and Julie.

I just used shipping tape and two flexible poly tubes to apply some pressure on the coil so it would unwind as I pulled lightly, but not unwind when just sitting there.

Punching the discs went so fast, I didn't plan on punching the entire 100 feet, but an hour and 15 minutes later, I found the other end :) I averaged 18 per foot, making aproximately 1800 from the coil.

Jon: Thanks for the photo's of your work process. Your temporary coil setup seems to have worked fine. I especially like the photo showing the unwound and punched material. It shows how working from coil stock sure speeds up the check making. I'll bring it to Yonky's attention, it is his product, I'm just his USA shipper. I'll send you a photo of how I have mine rigged in case you want to pursue further. Thanks again for you help in this project!! It is much appreciated.....G
