View Full Version : I hear that the first step to getting help is to admit that you have a problem

So before I admit to any thing I thought I would ask my peers if I have a problem.

I just ordered my 3rd NOE mold, should I be concerned?

Its a 452 230Gr. HP RG4 cavity PB

The way I figure it, is its only a problem if I keep ordering the same mold over and over again, but so long as I order a different mold, it should not matter, right?:guntootsmiley:

Yep, you definitely have a problem. Me, I don't have a problem - I've only bought TWO NOE molds so far. And I can quit anytime I want to. Really...

I've got 3 I know of, maybe 4. It's been too hot to cast much this past summer.

I do know if he puts out a copy of the Lyman #452374 I'll be owning one. I know there is another maker offering a group buy on that mould currently. But I'd rather get it and enjoy it while I'm still above ground.

Only problem I have is funding the hobby...

And that is the truth right there, I don't think I have near enough money to truly support this possible "problem".

once you find a mold maker you like sticking with them is good sense.
you know how the mold metal likes to be heated.
casting pace is easier to figure out.
mold break in becomes routine.
alloy temps are similar.
storage is simplified.
handles are interchangeable.

I don't understand why you have other brands, in fact since I am hopelessly mired in a mish mash of other makers molds I can help with the OFF brand molds and handles you currently own.
just box them up and send them to p.o. box.....

I don't think I will be giving up any of my accurate molds any time soon, in fact I am not sure one could say one was better than the other. Different yes but both make top notch molds.

At last count, I have 13 NOE molds. Although I don't consider myself superstitious, I will in the near future place myself outside the danger zone.:bigsmyl2:

I only have one NOE mould (311041), she's so pretty all my other moulds are a little jealous. Had her for awhile now but today is the first time I'll cast with her.

12 Step program for this addiction.

1) admit you have a problem.

Skip steps 2 through 11

12) just go with it

My solution is to work more overtime to pay for my addiction. At least I feel a little less guilty. I just bought my 6th mold since joining in the spring, and the one I am waiting on will be my first MiHec brass, so it might get worse. I don't want to say how many group buys I am waiting on, better off not knowing I guess...

Yeah, I collect by caliber, rather than maker. I'm up over 35 molds in hand for .32 caliber handguns, plus the various group buys I'm still waiting on...

Is there rehab for such?

The main cause for such addiction has to be this forum !

Not really an indication you really don't have a sickness for owning too many molds. In fact, you have a looooong ways to go

When you have to maintain a control list to identify your molds by caliber/weight/brand and have to store them in caliber order ... you have a sickness. My control list is:
* 207 molds long with 17 different handles listed!
Better hurry and catch up:bigsmyl2:

Spent 35 years casting with only 4 Lee 6 bangers - 9mm,357, 41, 45 acp.

Then .................. I joined this forum ............. Now, add 15+ moulds from Miha, NOE, Accurate, RCBS, Lyman.

Addiction ? Nah, I can stop any time - really, trust me !

I cast, I size, I load, I shoot - no problem !

Well how did it go?

Not good, think it needs a good scrubbing. Either I didn't get it clean before or the Bullplate got into the cavities. Another possibility is that I just couldn't get a temp it likes.

Nope, group therapy is load development. Too many enablers around here, an addict doesn't stand a chance!

Ya it seems that after a few bullets drop and the cavities come up to a good temp the wrinkles go away and the bullets start to look really good.

I got my new mold today, I can't wait to get home and try it out. I can't believe my boss wont let me go home to play with it.
