Anyone load 231 in 12 gauge?
I don't want super fast, (800fps) pushing 12 .31 cal roundballs.
I load a Unique load that's 1000 fps, but thought 231 might give less flash and noise if it burned out before/ right as shotwad left the barrel.
Defensive home load is what it would be for.
I shoot 231 in everything else.

I've never seen any shotshell data for 231. I have seen some 1 ounce data for Bullseye, but your 12-31's will be over 1&1/4 ounce. There seems to be a dearth of slow shotgun loads, none that I've seen went under 980 FPS.

I think you're always going to have some muzzle flash if the incompletely burned gases are hot enough when they get to the air outside the barrel.

Last time I shot a shotgun at night, the muzzle flash wasn't a problem, but the light from the Streamlight I had mounted did illuminate the gunsmoke very well, almost causing a "whiteout" condition. Kind of a reminder to move left or right(upwind) while firing. Tough to do in a hallway, I'm sure, but I was out at the chicken coop.
