At my local range we are required to sweep up all empties including 22 rimfire. This is often put in a container that anyone can take the brass if wanted. I have about a 4 gal. trash bucket that when full of scrap brass, I am paid about $30 from the scrapyard. Would I get more for it here? I will not sort manufacture but will take out the 17 and 22 MRF.

18 cents a pound for rimfire brass. More for center fire to reloaders.

So what would a small flat rate box and a medium flat rate box hold for those that have shipped 22 RF empties? thanks

I get $2.00 a pound for it at the local scrap dealers, so it should be worth at least that much.

Hope this helps.

I don't know about 22lr brass cost, but selling good centerfire brass for scrap should be against the law. It's worth far more to a reloader. So either sell it that way or leave it for the reloaders. You can take alum cans to the scrap yard.

Believe it or not, everyone is not privy to range pickup, including rimfire. I dont shoot at a range, but a field in the country, only i shoot there. 700pcs of 22lr per pound, roughly. As the old saying goes, one mans trash is another mans treasure. Got friends that shoot, I'm very gracious for the brass I've gotten from them. Luckily, one had been saving rimfire brass, about 5k or so. I considered it a good score vs. paying $2 a pound. But, I'd have paid $2 a pound if need dictated.

A large flat rate box will hold 24 pounds of 22lr brass.

I get $2.00 per pound at the scrap yard for clean 22lr brass.

2 bucks a pound is what I pay. Seems to be the going rate.

brassrat,

I simply take the scrap brass to Pacific Recycling, in Eugene, OR. They've been paying an average of $2.00 a pound for over a year now.

Hope this helps.

thanks guys. The only brass other than rim-fire that is scrapped is unusable center-fire because of cracks or berdan cases.

Some of the guys on this site us .22 empties for conversion to .22 J-bos. Some of them might be interested in those RF empties.

Put it on sale in the Swap& Sell forum: http://castboolits.gunloads.com/forumdisplay.php?18-Swappin-amp-Sellin
Advertise a price for the 22LR Brass in both a Small and Medium FlatRate USPS box, postage included and you will sell all you have at a price in the range of $1.25 to $2.00 per pound plus shipping. The range I listed is because some recyclers across the country will give you a Clean Brass Price, others a Dirty/Mixed price range. This spills over to what the Swaging community is used to paying when they buy it.

There are enough .224 Swagers in the forum that at a reasonable price you should be able to sell all you have in lots of Small or Medium Flate Rate USPS boxes. (Double Plastic Bag Them, or Box in a Box to keep the Brass and Heavy Handed USPS employees from breaking the box open).

Look forward to seeing a listing in the Swap and Sell forum.

Mustang

PS. Leave the 17'S, 22shorts and 22WMR in the mix. Many of the swagers tend to use those cases after processing for heavier bullets than a standard 22lr, or in the case of 22Shorts for lighter bullets.

Anybody out there selling spent 22lr brass? I'm just getting started and have none!

I have some listed in the S&S section. My boxes are mixed rimfire but if I had to guess would be around 90% 22lr. Hope that helps.
