Hey guys,

There's been many discussions here and on other forums concerning barrel vibrations, nodes, where to rest the barrel, etc. I recently ran across an old but excellent Bell Labs video on wave behavior which is exactly what barrel vibrations are. The video is about 26 minutes long, but the guy is an excellent instructor. Even if you're familiar with wave behavior I think you'll enjoy the video, resulting in a better understanding of the subject. BTW, another example of applying wave theory that affects most if not all of us is when we or the service technician connects up home video and audio equipment and needs to be concerned about proper signal termination and impedance matching. Of course, musicians are also constantly dealing with and utilizing vibrations (waves).

Hi Tom,

Yep, my sentiments also. BTW, I continue to use your excellent Cast Bullet Alloy Calculator (http://www.tmtpages.com/#alloy). I understand my article will be printed in the winter edition of The Black Powder Cartridge News. We'll see.

Wayne,

Thank you for the kind words concerning the Alloy Calculator. (http://www.tmtpages.com/Alloy/alloycalc.htm)
I am looking forward to reading your article. Your work is always interesting and informative.

And another thank you for drawing my attention to the website link to the Alloy Calculator. I noticed a minor error in the notes section regarding the explanation of a formula used in the calculator. The error is now fixed and an email has been sent to all who use the calculator letting them know that they can download an update to fix their module.

Good things always seem to happen on this forum!

As one who has studied sound and worked with it for many years, I really enjoyed that. It tied so many of my real world experiences and observations together. I really did learn something tonight. Thanks for posting that.
