Went to an auction in Bedford VA today and my pop acquired a couple more Ruger #1B's .
He first bought a 1986 vintage 280 REM and then followed with a 1981 vintage 257 Roberts .
The Roberts has a really really nice piece of wood in the butstock.

The 257 is up top and the 280 under .

The butstock of the 257 Roberts .

Lets see I have dies , brass and bullets for the 280 , but I suppose I will have to get dies and brass for the Roberts .

That is a beautiful hunk of walnut there and it got put in a very nice place.
That should be one nice shooting rifle in 257 even that 280 man them are good cal.'s
Nice score Ken.

I forgot to mention before . The 280 is a little unique in that the barrel is marked "280 REM or 7mm Express REM". I realize that is no big deal to a shooter but for the collector / shooter that is a little something of intrest . As I think they only stamped this for a couple years in the mid 80's when Remington couldn't decide what to call the 280 !
