I was in Cabela's the other day and saw they have White Hots 50gr/50cal pellets.

I understand CVA had some problems with 96 and 97 vintage rifles coming apart when loaded with 150gr. I have a CVA Eclipse 209 primers of 2000 vintage. Barrel markings show 700Kp/cm2 which I thinks translates to just under 10,000 psi.

Without test data on White Hots, looking at the test data on Pyrodex 50gr pellets for a Hornady 300gr Sabot, 22” barrel, we find 1 50 gr Pellet creates 9,100psi while, 2 Pellets creates 18,100 psi. However it seems no one is talking about 2 pellets being considered risky these days. Any one with information (or opinions) on shooting 2 50gr Pyrodex pellets (and therefore 2 White Hots pellets) in a non magnum CVA Eclipse with a 300gr Sabot?

700kPa equals out to just over 100psi. (101.526psi)

Zmurgy, I'm not sure where this is all coming from as I didn't run the nymbers myself. I took that information from a Randy Wakeman article found at http://randywakeman.com/ballltd60.htm
which states “That pressure level has been the 700 kiloponds per cm2 stamped right on the barrels, an archaic term that translates to a bit less than 10,000 PSI.”

Kiloponds???? I thought Kp meant kilo pascals per square cm. I spent 10 years working on food service equipment that was built in Europe, all metric stuff. Had to learn the metric system pretty quick...
