Im looking at buying an accurate mold but sized to .430 or .431. Does anyone make a custom Lee push thru sizer? The size of the Lee is .429 or could I try to polish it myself to make bigger?

Lee will make you one, but Buckshot is probably faster! Tell him your alloy and it will size exactly to what you want. PM him.

timtonya, Or you can try Buckshot's very effective method of sizing die enlargement: http://www.castpics.net/subsite2/HowTo/How%20to%20Hone%20a%20Size%20Die.pdf

Just lap out a standard die to the dimension you need it's not that hard.

You can open it up yourself or get a machinist to open one up.

I bought a Lee type from Buckshot. It was right on the money and came PDQ.

I use some fine self-adhesive sand paper made for table-top sanders and wrap a small sliver around a long screw-driver or other appropriate size rod. Roll it back and forth 20 times on a 2X4 applying a little pressure and size a couple. If it's still too small, run several laps again. They open up pretty quickly so be careful. Also, make sure you're putting pressure on the correct place in the sizer.

I have customized Lee size dies. I go with the slotted dowel, emery cloth and oil, used in a hand drill. .003" enlargement goes pretty quickly so check often.

Recently opened up a 358 Lee to 361 for 38 S&W with the sandpaper/large scredriver method. Really not too bad and final finish was even better then factory Lee. A set of ping guages makes checking progress real easy. That said if I need more than 0.003" increase I would farm it out (not positive I am prefectly round anymore but I don't shoot 38 S&W at 100yds either).

.003 wouldnt be to bad to polish out with a dowel and sand paper wrapped to be snug. The bores in the lee sizers are tapered at the start so you need to maintain this also. A strip of 400 grit about 3" wide wrapped around a split dowel to be snug. Chuck end of dowel in drill motor. Slow speed back and foth so that the polish lines "cross over" each other. Check size often by swaging a bullet and measuring with a good set of michrometers. when you get close a quick polish with flitz orJB bore cleaner on a patch same procedure and its done. Go slow check often its easy to open up almost impossible to make smaller.

I need one as well in .355 Lee's closest seems a bit too small to open up with sandpaper, plus the pusher would seem to be very undersized. I've PMed BuckShot. Fingers crossed.

Lee appears to not be taking any new custom requests for the time being.
