I made a shelf to hold all of my toolheads this morning. I'm pretty proud of it, so I wanted to show it off.....

The shelf looks great but the one tool head looks kind of lonely up there!

That's a good idea and looks quite professional. I had a similar idea many years ago ... best laid plans of mice and men sort of thing so it never got built. I keep mine in a short, wide cardboard box with a front flap on the shelf under my bench. Now that I've seen your setup, I've got the urge again.

I need 14 stands for the tool heads. Did you turn the stands yourself or are they something you adapted?

Very nice!

What measurements did you use and what material?

I was just checking clearance height smartie!

There's a seller on ebay selling them in lots of five. Very nice product. I'm going to pick up more for future growth(only have six toolheads....for now)

I used a 1"x4" pine board and some Stanley brackets. I spaced the toolheads apart by drilling the 5/16th holes 3 5/8" apart(center to center). I think I spaced them 1 3/4' from the front......because the toolheads are kind of rectangular. I used 1 1/2 Tapco screws to hold it all up. It's not going anywhere....

Only five?? You must have six. One is always on the machine.

Thanks for the response. I'll just use my PVC pipe stands since I don't use eBay.

I've seen people use large plain bolts and nuts as stands. Doesn't look as pretty, but definitely just as sturdy.

Ku4hx, Just get a dowel rod that's a larger diameter than the hole and turn it down. I used my bench top grinder. It's not as nice the ones Robpete has but they work.

Why complicate the job?

Drill 3/8" holes into the front upper edge of the shelf at a down-angle, and install short lengths of 3/8"dowel in the holes. The dowels should be just long enough to go through the center holes of the tool-heads. Obviously, the dowels should be suitably spaced for the dimensions of the tool-heads.

This not only secures the tool-heads, but it leaves the shelf space free for other uses.

That's a great idea! I would have to place my shelf lower to accommodate the powder measures. Will you be storing the shellplate and locator pins on the shelf with them?

I do that a lot. Sometimes I can't see the forest for the trees. :) The dowels I had were larger than the hole so I had to whittle them down and I didn't think about them coming in different sizes. Thanks, Bruce.

Great idea. Height would be a problem for me. All of my tool heads have the powder measures on em. But a great idea never the less. I need something like that in my fifth wheel storage compartment. Living in a fiver gets crowded.

Need more overhead for me, mine have powder measures on them.

Nice idea, though, much more stable than the unmounted holders I use.

The shellplates and buttons are sitting on the large shelf right above the toolhead one. More space for the measures is definitely an easy fix, as suggested above. I only recently got my 550 and already have a ton of scratch invested. I had to stop the bleeding(for just a little bit). I will eventually add more measures. For sure.

One I made for the Lee 4 hole (and can make 5 hole on demand)

Looks very nice Mine isn't mounted to the wall but a similar idea using a cherry board some short lengths of pipe and dowel rod .

Did something similar. For tool heads, I turned a dowel down. For powder measures, I drilled a short hole down the center. The food storage jars keep them clean.

I made this one by sandwiching three layers of wood with the grain in the middle perpendicular to those of the top and bottom layers similar to plywood. I planed the wood in the middle layer down for a better fit. I glued and screwed the layers together.

I built a few racks a while back. I had a friend post pictures as I am nearly moronic when it comes to the art of computering stuff.
If you read the whole thread, you will see the cut list and a note on taller setups.
Enjoy.
