Muzzleloading season is coming up and I need to find an accurate load for my Lyman .50 GPH. Needless to say, I'd prefer to cast my own and I have two .50 molds: 320gr REAL and 350gr Lyman Maxi. Unless someone already knows a load that will work in these rifles I will probably start with 80gr ffg and 70gr fffg with these bullets. Hopefully, someone on here has a similar rifle and can give me a heads up on a known load that works. Thanks.

Here's 5 shots @ 95 yds with my GPH and Lee 320 gr REAL bullets @ 5.3cc RS.

Nice group. Good enough for the deer (oversized goats) that I usually see. Do you use the stock sights or have you gone with an aperture sight?

The Lyman Plains bullet # 508656 does nearly well for me with Triple 7 FFF (or Pyrodex P) at about 80g.For plinking use a .495 ball and 60g of FF Goex and it will surprise you at 50 yards.

all the advice your getting is good. i had one like your rifle and just gave it to my son in denver last fall. it shot a mmp sabot with a .451 250 grain copper coated hollow nose pistol bullet with 100 grains of 2f black behind it. i put a ghost ring back sight on it and cryo/ treated the barrel. it also has a magspark nipple for 209 shotgun primers on it. it would consistanty cur center at 180 yards. it is very accure and very hard hitting. my boy loves the gun and is going to use it for deer next fall. good gun.
