I got a rossi M92 rifle in 45 Colt to replace one I sold and I must have got the 1 of 1000 model. The bore was .451 on the snout and the chamber wasn't very oversize at all and the barrel was straight. I'll be jiggered but the darn gun shoots right on the money with a .347 Lyman bead in front and groups are running consistantly under 3" at 100 yards with iron sights.

The only down side is the horrible cluby unfinished stocks. The fore end is 1/4" over size in places and the buttstock is way chunky and lumpy. I guess as good as it shoots it will be worth a day or so of hacking off the proud wood and making the stock look right. I think I will start today.

Mine sounds just like yours, but my stock is actually pretty nice. The bore is the same at .451 and it shoots best with the Lyman 454485, 2nd with the Lee TL452-230-TC and 3rd with the Lee 452-300. I had to try lots of different bullet designs before I figured out what the rifle really liked. This winter I hope to rub some spar varnish into the stock to make it look a little nicer and to hopefully give it some ding resistance.

It isn't the wood it's the shape and the overhang8035480355 both of which are now fixed. I had to take almost a 1/4" of wood off the foreend to bring it flush with the metal.

This was what was under the Rossi Red dye on my M92, sanded, stained with a dark walnut stain, about 6 coats TruOil with a 0000 steel wool buff between coats, then a couple coats of paste wax.

The fit on the wood on mine must have been done during a wood shortage 'cause I had to be real careful not to remove too much during the sanding process and leave the metal sticking past the wood.

But on the other hand I guess that's been the problem with Braztech-Tarus all the time, quality control!
