Does anyone have any data worked up for a 360gr. LNFPGC .452 in a 45LC? I have a load for H110 but at 1180fps out of a 4 1/4 inch barrel it hits almost 4 feet high and recoil is quite stiff. I hike in grizzly country all summer but with this load I don't feel very confident; plenty of power but hard to manage.

I have to ask.....what gun are you using for these loads? If they hit 4 feet high at what I consider handgun ranges, you need to add about a half inch of front sight.

The heaviest boolits I use in my .454's is 335 grains, so I can't help much with the 360 grainers.

It is a freedom 95 and with a 4.25 barrel it has a pretty tall sight, but I did put a little shorter sight on it than factory standard.

I like the fastmovers in my 454 so I stick with 260's

I have a load for a 350 gr. bullet, so a slightly reduced charge should be OK, it is 12.2 grains of AA7. Velocity is listed as 983 fps. I have hotter loads listed, and in your 360 grain weight, but it sounded like you wanted something lighter.

personaly i think the effecientcy of a 44 peaks at about 300 grain and a 45 peaks at about 320. Now in a 454 those 360s are about perfect. Most 45 dont have the twist to deal with bullets that heavy and will shoot 300s much better. Now with a custom slow twist barrel it may be a differnt matter. But your still going to infringe alot on case capasity seating a bullet that big in a colt case.

I would say the load you have is a good one providing the pressure is safe and considering you might shoot a grizzly with it. With a bullet that heavy any load of any reasonable velocity is going to have some recoil. If you need to just replace the front sight.

Check with Ken ONeal over on graybeard or singleactions.com.....he sells an excellent replacement front sight that is perfect on the FA....
