anyone load the 300 in their .44s? I have bluedot , H-110, 296, unique, W231, and HS-6, which one would be top velocity with this bullet? and I only have WLPs primers, is it true as it says for standard or magnum loads on the white box,?? any loads?

Check out some of 44mans posts in the pistol section. But he loads for accuracy, instead of top velocity.

WLP is for both, 296 and 110 are the same powder and will be the best choice for magnum loads. Heed the "do not reduce more than 3%" warning for these powders.

I use H110 for a 320 Gr GC WFN from an Accurate mold. How much to use depends on the nose profile (determines how deep your 300 gr sits in the case) and if it is gas checked or not. I use CCI 350 primers but I suspect that a WLP would be fine since H110 is the same as Win 296.

330gr gas checked in my encore with Lil'gun gets me 1450fps in a 12" barrel. Lil'gun gives me more velocity than H110. With the encore, I seat the boolit way out, .200" further out.

H110 with the Lee 310. Best accuracy in my revolvers is middle of the road between start and max charge.

thanks, I have a Ruger Redhawk with scope , are the cylinders long enough for the 300 gr. flat nose, no GS, just some old off the wall caster, the only trouble I have is getting them to seat to crimp groove and not expand the case. the 10 loads I tried with 9 gr unique the bullet made a expanded ring around case but still chambered, nice load. bullet diameter is .430 .

is there something wrong with this post, the bullet does make loading a little tight but I don't need a hammer to put rounds in chamber, the bullet is long with a crimp very close to top, the bullet is made by Phoenix bullets, exclusively distributed by F&M reloading equipment inc. nothing wrong I see.

I suspect your cases were really sized down fairly good to cause a "bullet" ring to appear in the case after it's seated.

I get that with some of mine too, no big deal. If they are seating tight you may want to find out where it's hanging up. Could be the bullet engaging the throat in the cylinder a bit, or too much crimp is swelling the case a tad.

If they eject fine you should have no worries.

+1 to what Blammer said.
My 1st set of 44 mag dies would oversize. Seating a .429 bullet would expand the brass where the base of the bullet was. My 41 used to do the same until I stopped sizing so far down.

"Seeing" the bullet and the lube grooves on the outside of the brass is not a prob, in fact you need a healthy amount of case neck tension -in addition- to the crimp. What that does is prevent a primer from bumping the boolit past the crimp groove before the powder gets a chance to light off good. They both work together to aid ignition.

+1 on the "do not download W296/H110" if you need less than what minimum recommended charge weights are, H110 is NOT the powder to use for this. I use LilGun and 2400 for those lighter loads. Both accurate and pleasant to shoot. Stout charges of H110 behind that 300gr is a very well established load for the .44 magnum, this is -the- go to powder for max velocity and penetration.

I also use LilGun when I want to go right up under the max velocity that H110 delivers, just for a tad bit less punishment.
