View Full Version : Would anyone else like a copy of the 356404?

I've got a single cavity 356404 mold, and it's proven accurate in my .380's and has also been used for light .38 special loads.
For those unfamiliar with the design, it is essentially a more truncated version of the 356402, weighing in at about 95-100 grains.
I would love to have a multi-cavity version of the mold, I'm hoping some other folks would as well.

Are you suggesting a group buy?

That is what I'm suggesting.
I'm thinking Miha could make a 6 cavity Solid, and for folks so inclined, could make a 4 cavity HP version

I'd be interested.
If you could post a picture of one of the bullets you cast, that would be helpful. Lymans pictures kinda suck.

I'll have to get the time to cast some, I shot all I had up!

I would be interested in a 6C solid.

Can you do better than this, so us dummies don't have to spend 45 minutes to an hour looking.

This is a Lyman 356404 95g boolit on the left:

My wheelweight castings drop @100g with an overall length of .420” and a nice .360” diameter.
If you desire a short-light- flat nose boolit, then here it is. I use it in all .355 to .360 guns for light plinking and critter control.
I agree with the OP’er single cavity molds are slow, so yes a multi cavity would be very nice.

Sorry for the delay, here's a photo of my single cavity:

The bullets drop from my mold at about 95 grains and .359" diameter. It's been a great bullet in the Sig P238 and is an excellent plinking and small game bullet in the .38 special.
I'd still really like to see a 4+ cavity version of this become available.

Would it be possible to get a sample from you?
Would like to add it to our inventory too.

Have to say I like the design of that little boolit. Looks like a very good candidate for an HP cavity too. I'd be in.

Next time I cast some up I'll send some samples. I'd love to see this available!

Have been watching this thread.
I have a double cavity Lyman 356632 mold that throws a .359 x 100 gr with WW, For those not aware of that mould number, Lyman redid the 356404 with a different length and slightly smaller meplat in the 1990's
Would love a four cavity copy of either the 356404 or a 356632
Swede, I will look to see if I have any cast up and send a couple of samples for your files.

Nobody else interested in this nice little boolit? I could use a mold of this design.

How about this one? Pretty close, don't need to wait for a GB. Scroll down to 35-100L

Saw it. Metplat is a lot smaller and no HP options.

I would be interested in a 6 banger version of this.
What's the latest on a GB?

I'm unsure, I dropped NOE a message when I found a few, but still haven't heard back with an address to ship to.

I too would prefer a mold more like the original, but if there isn't enough interest in a GB, I could always have Tom draw up a copy for his catalog...
If I had a couple boolits I could measure them and draw it up in Autocad.
Any progress made on this design?
