Well I have a Waage pot coming direct from Mark. I took a chance on this buy it now ebay item # 111149823864. At least I'll have something to throw in the pot. I guess I just have to hope that there ain't no junk in the ingots that shouldn't be in there. Anyone else gamble on ebay lead alloy auctions ?

I have bought lead from there since I hardly find anything local. Maybe I got lucky, but I am 3 for 3 with all good stuff. One did not even need much casting since it was half commercial cast .38 HBWCs under various scrap bits.

Buying anything from fleabay is a gamble. If you're making pistol bullets it hardly matters what the alloy actually is, you just add hard or soft lead until you get the hardness desired. Precision rifle bullets I prefer to pay the outrageous price and buy certified alloy so I get the same bullet each casting session.

Uncle bought some 1 pound ingots from fleabay, think they must be zinc, wont melt when put in molten lead.

I have sold thousands of pounds of lead through eBay, and the most important thing to watch for is feedback from people that have bought from them.

Been lucky so far, I test what I get with acid to make sure no zinc. Mainly buy foundry/monotype off ebay though.

I've bought lead off ebay in the past but wouldn't anymore. Why would I? The vendors and other members here all beat or at minimum meet any eBay price and you know what your getting.

I have only bought foundry-monotype off ebay in it original form. Kind of scared to buy lead melted into ingot molds. Rick!

My sentiments exactly. I will by certified foundry metals if I absolutely need to know what it is.

I got a good deal on some monotype (in original form) on ebay before. I've even bought raw WW there before.

I wouldn't buy ingots on ebay, they just have too much incentive to melt zinc into the mix and I don't think our guys would do that to anyone here.
Most ebay sellers don't even say what the lead comes from; it is just mystery "lead". I have got much better deals on ingots here in the S&S forums anyhow.
