Gents,

I've been shooting 5.5 gr. HS-6 (Win 540) behind a plain base 115 gr. .313 bullseye bullet co. slug. No 2400 available in this area. All seems to be fine, but I don't have a Powley computer (if that's what I need) to see if this is in the proper pressure range for my ca. 1917 1892 Winchester rifle. I shot 5 rounds with 6.0 fr of HS-6 behind the same boolit and the SR CCI primers, were still well rounded, and protruding back slightly, which is normal for even light loads in my old rifle. Still locks up like a bank vault, but I don't want to shoot it loose after a 55 year love affair. I will try to get a velocity reading next week. Also, so far no leading at all. Can anyone offer advice???????? Any ideas on pressure c.u.p. or psi. Tempted to install a Marble tang sight with a flat blade front. Won't outshoot my Sav 10 FP w/8-32 but would be lots of fun. When I go to the forums, it seems there are usually a larger number of people on the lever action forum than most others. We ain't dead yet !! Any help appreciated. THANKS. Mack Lester

FWIW I have been loading 6.5grs of WW540 with a 115gr lead boolit in my 310 Cadet for a long time now I am getting excellent accuracy and haven't seen any little nasties with cases or rifle
My load gets 1450fps lubed with mulesnot
I also have a 1920's made '92 32/20 that I am just starting to play with I'm using H4227 in mine at the moment with a NOE 115gr keith style swc I'm using 11grs at the moment it seem to shoot well I have some 2400 to try I may even bump the H4227 load up a grain and see what happens

QL says 16,000 psi and 1300 fps. Nice mild load, no worries. I would be curious as to what your chronograph says and how close it is to the prediction. I used a 20 inch barrel BTW.

Sounds like a sweet load in a sweet rifle. I have some 32-20's loaded up over Universal, all I need now is a rifle!
